Mentoring
"What They See Is What They Will Be"
Mentee selection is based on the 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville established criteria. Generally, students are assessed in the 5th grade by recommendations from local schools, churches, and community organizations.
There are three major human investment principles that guide our efforts:
-
Long-term commitment to a young man’s holistic development increases his confidence and his expectation.
 -
Quality education coupled with targeted community exposure enables a young man to maximize his talents.
 -
Significant 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville member’s focus, dedication, and commitment to join the 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville ‘MOT’ Mentoring program.

Long-term success in America requires a strong blend of knowledge, skills, and confidence. American youth demonstrate how well they have developed in these areas through behavior and their academic performance in school.

The 100 BMOGH MOT mentoring program offers basic educational skills reinforcement, life skills, financial management training, leadership development, Robotics/S.T.E.M./Computers training, homework assistance, social, community service projects, cultural field trips enrichment, and nutritional support that is needed to support our youth; regardless of race, creed color, or religous preference. In addition, this holistic program addresses the social, economic, emotional and cultural needs of young men, fifth through twelfth grades. Mentees are expected to understand and practice the Men of Tomorrow Code of Conduct and follow established rules and regulations. Planned cultural/education field trips, religious activities and community service projects are also part of our twenty-one week program. Through bi-monthly meetings, one-on-one relationships, group activities, mentors and mentees become friends, yet the impact of the program spreads out into the families and the broader community.

Mentoring is the cornerstone program of 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville and its goal is to help mentees gain the skills and confidence to be responsible for their own futures, with an increasing emphasis on academic and occupational skills. Through mentoring, youth are encouraged to be healthy, educated, contributing members of our society. The 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville carefully screens and train chapter members to become mentors to our community youth. These men generously give of their time, inspiring and motivating young men by example.
‘Mentoring the 100 Way Across A Lifetime’ is a well-organized, intensely personal process. Mentors’ go into the neighborhoods and reach young people on their own turf: where they live, work, play, and attend to school. Through one-on-one relationship and group activities, these members become friends, advocates, and role models for each child, yet the impact of the program spreads out into the families and the broader community. Mentors install in children a sense of cultural pride, self-confidence and competence.
Men of Tomorrow Fishing Day
Members of the 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville (100 BMOGH) took our Men of Tomorrow (MOT) Mentees on a fishing outing/cookout on August 9, 2025, at Sharon Johnston Park in New Market, AL. A cash prize was given to the Mentee who catches the most fish (10 Fish limit), BIGGEST fish, and the SMALLEST fish (must be return to the river.).
